Information for Volunteers

We need Drivers.

• We have 15 drivers who have varying amounts of time that they are able to devote to helping our clients.
• Our drivers decide how much time they have available in a particular week  and there is no pressure to do more than that.
• Our clients are mainly elderly and we take them to various medical appointments and return them home afterwards.
• Our drivers usually wait with our clients unless it is impractical to do so.
• Our clients pay a charge directly to the driver.
• You will be told the type of charge to impose when you accept the drive.
• Our drivers receive 45p per mile to cover vehicle running costs.

We also need Duty Officers.

• To take telephone bookings from clients and schedule them with our drivers at the end of each week.
• The work is carried out in your own home and would suit a non-driver or somebody who is tied to the home.
• Bookings are taken between 10am and Noon, Monday – Friday.
• This is a straight-forward but important task and full, informal training will be given.
• Incoming calls come to our mobile phone and you will be reimbursed for any use of your own phone.
