Information for Clients

  • To qualify for our services you must be a resident of the Borough of Spelthorne and unable to transport yourself to your appointment. We have 250+ clients on our books.
  • We take people to medical appointments both inside and outside of the borough.
  • We usually require 1 week’s notice of your requirements. 
  • We will make every effort to find a driver for you and will let you know on the rare occasions when we can’t. 
  • We make a small charge for each trip and you will pay this directly to our driver. 
  • You will be given an idea of the likely cost when you make your booking. 
  • Our drivers are all DBS checked and are willing volunteers. 
  • When telephoning – please let our Duty Officer know if you have any special requirements, such as needing a wheelchair on arrival at your destination. 
  • Please remember we handle MEDICAL appointments only and are not to be considered as a cheap taxi service.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Spelthorne Volunteer Drivers (SVD) holds a client’s personal information, including name, address and telephone number, to administer requests for transport to medical-related appointments.

To comply with GDPR, these details will not be disclosed to any third party outside SVD, except in exceptional circumstances, when they might be passed to medical personnel or to an emergency contact.

SVD is committed to ensuring that your privacy and personal information are protected. We undertake to keep data secure.

By using its services, you agree that SVD may contact you using your personal details. If you no longer wish to use the service, you should inform SVD, who will then remove your details from its records.
